We would like to share with you our six-point plan for improving the society. Committees will be created to handle the tactical execution of these, and this is where you come in! Voting for our slate will allow you to work directly with us on committees to drive forward the following:

I. Membership

• Implement electronic membership with electronic renewals and reminders
• Double our membership in 2 years
• Introduce a new tier of membership for youth and those who are new to the hobby

II. Communication

• Allowing our members to participate fully in our meetings via video conferencing
• Integrate our club events and announcements across all social media platforms, text messages, and emails for consistent and timely messaging
• Regular (at least monthly) updates from your board
• Make the society website mobile device friendly

III. Organizational Stabilization

• Revise and modernize the 1989 Constitution, to include modern communication, disbarment of officers, votes of no confidence for those not performing their assigned duties, term limits on committees.
• Electronic minutes for all meetings, stored in the cloud and accessible to our members
• Conduct financial audits over our past and present
• Present regular status on club membership and finances
• Establish official liaisons with our partner museums and local rock clubs
• Improve and expand relationships with researchers, universities, and worldwide museums

IV. Picking Table Journal

• Select a new printer and a new composition partner that is more cost effective than the current
• Restore cadence to at least 2 journals per year
• Integrate electronic membership with electronic journal access
• Streamline the editing and review process with GenAI tools

V. Maintain our Digs and Speakers

• Maintain our cadence of 6 digs/year
• Maintain our cadence of 6 speakers/year

VI. Our own FOMS Mineral Show

• Explore a new venue for an annual show
• Increase the satisfaction of our vendors at our show
• Maximize club income from our show
